PETsPoint is an integrated clean tech value chain social enterprise. We leverage technology to deploy a mobile application that allows aggregation of plastic waste directly from: households, communities, marketplaces, and event centres. We try to drive desired behaviours and empower semi-skilled women and girls from low income communities. The recovered recyclables are used to manufacture high quality eco-friendly products, starting with bricks for the building industry. In the long term, we plan on expanding into the production of yarns/fibres, t-shirts, and other consumables in the value chain. Our mission is to coordinate the redirection of waste products, particularly plastic wastes, through proper channels by: recycling, innovating, and recreating for economic value through citizens’ engagement. We aim to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, 12.5 and 13 - Climate Action, thereby proactively expanding the circular economy value chain in Nigeria. Our mobile/digital platform “Junkyard,” allows citizens to dispose of their recyclable waste through a seamless process, and earn incentives. It also allows waste management companies who register as collectors on the app, to easily collect recyclable waste products.
